History

Our journey

Several inspections and audits conducted at Gnassingbé Eyadéma International Airport (AIGE) in Lomé have highlighted deficiencies in the coordination of actions among the various forces involved in security matters, as well as shortcomings with regard to the standards and recommendations of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

In order to correct these dysfunctions and bring the AIGE security system into compliance with international standards, the Togolese Government decided to establish, within each airport, a Security Authority responsible for protecting civil aviation against acts of unlawful interference and for coordinating all security-related missions.

It was thus that, by decree N°2011-124/PR of July 13, 2011, the Security Authority of Gnassingbé Eyadéma International Airport (ASAIGE) was established and placed under the supervision of the ministry in charge of civil aviation. It carries out its missions under the oversight of an interministerial security committee.

As the competent authority for civil aviation security, the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC-TOGO) oversees and monitors the activities of ASAIGE, in accordance with the provisions of the national security quality control program, in particular through the conduct of audits, inspections, tests and investigations.
